Data We Collect

Location Data: We request your location to show nearby places. This data is processed locally and cached in your browser for up to 5 minutes to improve performance. Location data is not stored on our servers.

Voting Data: When you vote on whether a place is open or closed, we store an anonymous browser fingerprint to prevent duplicate votes.

Comments: When you post a comment or reply, we store the content along with an anonymous browser fingerprint and timestamp. No personal identifying information is collected.

Local Storage

We use local storage (on your device only) for the following purposes:

  • Theme Preference: Your light/dark mode setting
  • Favorites: Places you've saved as favorites
  • Visit History: Recently viewed places for quick access
  • Location Cache: Your last known location for faster loading
  • Notification Preferences: Places you've subscribed to for alerts
  • Recent Searches: Your recent search queries

This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Notifications

If you enable notifications for a place, we store your subscription preferences in your browser's local storage. Browser notification permissions are requested separately and can be revoked in your browser settings at any time.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • OpenStreetMap: For map data and place information
  • Supabase: For storing votes and comments
  • Leaflet: For map rendering

Cookies

We do not use tracking cookies. We only use local storage as described above.

Data Deletion

You can clear all locally stored data by clearing your browser's local storage or using the "Clear" buttons provided in the Favorites and History sections of the app.
