Welcome to What's Open RIGHT NOW? ("App", "we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application.

• Location Data: We request access to your device's location data (latitude, longitude) when you use the "Find Near Me" feature to find nearby places. This data is used solely for the purpose of performing the search and calculating distances. We don't store your precise location history on our servers. Your last searched general area might be implicitly known if error logs are generated, but not tied to any personal identifier unless you create an account (feature not yet implemented).
• User Reports: When you report a place as "Open" or "Closed", or confirm it's "Still Closed", we collect the place ID, the status reported, and a timestamp. This information is used to update the status displayed to other users. Currently, these reports are anonymous. If user accounts are implemented in the future, reports might be associated with your account.
• Session Data (Local Storage / Session Storage): We use your browser's local storage and session storage to remember your theme preference (light/dark) and which places you have reported or confirmed closed during your current session, so we don't repeatedly show you the same buttons. This data stays on your device.
• Usage Data (Future): We may collect anonymous usage data to understand how the App is used and to improve its functionality.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core functionality (finding nearby places based on location and category).
• Display the reported open/closed status of places based on aggregated, anonymous user reports.
• Improve the App's accuracy and user experience.
• Remember your preferences (like theme).

Disclosure of Your Information

We do not share your precise location data. Aggregated or anonymized report data (e.g., counts of open/closed reports for a place) is implicitly shared by being displayed within the app. We do not sell your personal information.

We may disclose information if required by law.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect the limited information we handle. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Third-Party Data

Our App relies on data from OpenStreetMap (OSM). Your use of the map data is subject to OSM's copyright and license terms. We also link to external navigation services (Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps) which have their own privacy policies.

Your Choices

• Location: You can disable location services for the App in your device settings, but this will prevent the "Find Near Me" feature from working automatically.
• Reporting: Reporting place statuses is optional.
